Privacy policy

Last updated October 3, 2026

OpenBar Games is a platform that organizations use to run free poker runs and prize drops. This policy explains what we collect and why. Each game is run by its organizer, and the organizer decides how it uses the player information it collects. For those uses, the organizer is responsible, and their own privacy policy may also apply.

1. What we collect

  • Players: first and last name, email or mobile number, your cards and hand, when and how each card was unlocked, and your opt-in choices.
  • Location (only at some stops): when you tap "I'm here," your phone shares its location once. We use it to check that you're at the stop, and we keep only the result of that check. We don't track you between stops.
  • Sponsor activity: which sponsor messages you saw, which links or offer codes you tapped, and whether you chose to share your info with a sponsor.
  • Organizers, staff and sponsor viewers: account email, sign-in details, and the actions you take in the admin area (shown in the game's activity history).
  • Device storage: a random code is saved in your browser so your hand stays on your phone. We don't use advertising cookies.

2. How we use it

  • To run the game: dealing cards, unlocking stops, scoring hands and showing the leaderboard.
  • To pick and contact winners and to record when prizes are claimed.
  • To prevent cheating, such as duplicate entries, shared QR codes or faked locations.
  • To give organizers and sponsors reports. Reports show totals. They include personal details only for players who opted in.

3. Who sees it

  • Everyone at the event: the leaderboard and big screen show your first name, last initial and hand.
  • The organizer and their staff: your registration details and cards for their game.
  • Sponsors: your name and contact details, only if you chose to share them with that sponsor. Otherwise sponsors see only totals.
  • Service providers: our hosting and storage providers, and our AI provider, which receives prize descriptions and design prompts but no player information.
  • When the law requires it. We never sell personal information.

4. Marketing

You get marketing from the organizer or a sponsor only if you ticked the box or tapped "Share my info." Each message should tell you how to unsubscribe. Turning down marketing never affects your entry or your chances.

5. How long we keep it

Game data is kept for as long as the organizer keeps the game, so that winners can be confirmed and disputes and legal requests handled. Organizers may keep winner records longer when the law requires it. Test players are deleted when a game opens.

6. Your choices

  • To see, correct or delete your information, contact the organizer of your game, or send us a privacy request on our contact page.
  • You can join without sharing your location. Location stops then need a staff member or a stop QR code instead.
  • Clearing your browser signs you out of your hand. Staff can move it to a new phone.

7. Children

Games are not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. Prizes with alcohol are for people 21 and over only.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Each organization can see only its own games. Prize, logo and video files are kept private and shared through links that expire. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we'll notify you as the law requires.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here with a new date.
